3. H.M Revenue and Customs (HMRC)

The Background

With their own in-house operations in place throughout the UK to produce hundreds of millions of documents for 'Business As Usual' requirements, HMRC only need to utilise external business partners when sufficient peaks in volume occur, which mean they are unable to manage the work in-house.

HMRC's requirements for using external partners are extremely strict, with demonstrable processes and policies requiring testing and verification. These include site security, data security, personnel and production processes and procedures as well as resilience, to ensure all output is managed and fulfilled under very tight guidelines.

Additionally, the work requirement is to print and dispatch approximately 7,000,000 documents within 2 weeks. HMRC looked for partners for this work, which is produced twice a year.

MBA successfully tendered and won a contract to produce this work.

Our Solution

MBA was able to demonstrate its large capacity in production as well as on-site engineering (for instant fix of machine issues and greater resilience). This was supported with detailed thorough processes for all production requirements and the provision of competitive costings. As a result of this MBA was awarded the contract and has now successfully worked with HMRC for the past 6 years.

MBA wins ‘Best-of-the-Best’ International Print Awards

MBA Group has won a ‘Best-of-the-Best’ International Print Award. The award is for producing a fully digital publication using their Xerox 980 colour continuous laser press.

Graham Smith, Marketing Manager at MBA, is delighted with the award. "We wanted to use a vehicle that would demonstrate the benefits of variable content on large print runs, which is where our data team and the 980 really score".

MBA fought off stiff competition with an incredible number of entries from over 19 different countries. The award was presented in front of an international audience at the Premier Partnership Congress held in Manchester on 17 May 2010.
